A town in the Świętokrzyskie Province, Kielce poviat, seat of the urban-rural municipality of Chęciny. Located about 15 km from Kielce, in Kielce Upland, historically in the Lesser Poland. The history of the city is inextricably linked to the castle built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Chęciny presumably received city rights at the end of the 14th century.
